FreeBSD - "nlist failed" error when running top

I've got a new FreeBSD 4.4 server and top doesn't work. It gives the error "nlist failed". I've checked the FreeBSD FAQ and found this error in there and tried the fixes, but it still doesn't work.

I've made sure that the kernel and userland are synchronized, so I don't think that's it. The other thing the FreeBSD FAQ says is to make sure you're using boot/loader to load the kernel. I'm not completely sure, but it looks like it is.

Anyone have any ideas?
