Web-based email program

I am looking for a software (something like IMP or Neomail) which can offer web-based email capabilities. It should be able to connect to external mail servers.
Do you have experience with such an application? PHP and MySQL based it's even better Web-based email program. I don't want to use IMP or Neomail.
