Technical details for sending optin mailing
Together with an programmer I am developing an site where people can build and manage their own Ezine for free (up to 5000 mailings). Some of you may have seen my posts for a hosting sponsor.
Hopefully the site will send lots of mailings because that means my project is succesfull (duh). But there are always downsides, also for this site.
I already heard from an technician that my hosting server should support SMTP to allow the mailings, The most ideal situation would me to have my own SMTP server, but that isn't financially possible for me now. And since the site will have most free members, who don't pay a dime, that SMTP server will take a while to be affordable for me. So I stuck to shared hosting (hoping that one day I could by a SMTP server
). But except for the SMTP part, are there any other issues I should take care of/keep in mind? I ask you this in this specific section because I read there are a lot of experienced technicians around here.
The problem is thay I am more a business man (always thinking of new solutions to serve the internet public) and the programmer is more a programmer, not an highly skilled server specialist. So I hope you can help me out, I would highly appreciate that.
You may think that I am a business owner who is too lazy to hire a server specialist to help him with his site, but that's not the issue (unfortunately). I am just a simple man with a great idea (in my eyes). The idea behind the site is that I couldn't find a full features Ezine solution at an affordable rate. So I decided to make such a solution myself (using my own savings money, no loan) and make it public so people who have the same problem can benefit from it.
