Cpanel FrontPage trouble

I recompiled apache 2 days ago and all of a sudden Front Page stopped working. It was selected as an option in the buildapache.sea advanced menu.

The error that customers are receiving is:

The server sent a response which FrontPage could not parse. If you are trying to connect to a FrontPage server, check with the servers administrator to make sure front page extensions are installed properly.

I have tried installing the front page 'update' from layer1.cpanel.net, which builds everything fine except for an error renaming a file called fpexe.c at the very beginning. I've tried changing the permissions on the file, but it still gets the same error:

error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/local/frontpage/version5.0/apache-fp/_vti_bin/fpexe: cpio: rename failed - Operation not permitted

I've tried to compile apache both with and without suexec, with the same result each time. Nothing seems to work here.

My first thought when this happend was to do a quick uninstall, reinstall of fp extensions on a per account basis, using /scripts/ setupfp5, as one would normally do when having trouble with extenstions...

This is really getting annoying now. I've noticed a bunch of things that have magically appeared in /scripts since the last update with the letters 'fp' in them, but nothing that tells you what the heck they do or why they are necessary!

If anyone could shed any light on this or share some experience with me that might help, I'd greatly appreciate it!
