Recommendations for Pop3 on linux?

I have a client who wants to retrieve email by pop3. I'm not thrilled about having email retrieved with plaintext passwords, for the usual reasons.

I'd appreciate suggestions on what pop3 server to look at. There will only be a few accounts involved, so I've considered forwarding emails to accounts without shell privs, and then popping out of those accounts. (I'm already running postfix, which would handle the fowarding.) But I'm sure there's something more elegant and secure... thanks in advance!
