Winsocks/internet problem
Im having a bit of a problem here. A friend of mine came over to do a bit of LANing, but he didnt have a NIC, he had been connecting directly to his cable modem via a usb cable. So i added one, installed the drivers and told windows to connect via LAN. Thats when the problems began. When you turned it on you get errors of a few apps that use the inet and cannot connect to any web page. So i removed the NIC and its driver, but all the same problems. I reconected his cable modem via USB and could ping IP's like 66.218.71.198 and get a response but NOT hostnames like yahoo.com (the domain that the IP previously stated belongs to, it says not found or something of that nature) which i what makes me think its a winsocks problem. I then reinstalled windows over winodws wich removed all of the errors but since it removed the USB driver i couldnt connect to the internet. When i reinstalled the usb driver, i got all of the error messages again and it was just as it had been. Remeber, the NIC stuff is no longer there.
This is the output if ipconfig /all .My friend couldnt get the top 2 lines, but i imagine the top 1 said his IP and the next specified the first dns And this is win98se. I could upgrade it to pro if itd fix it BTW
