Learn to Build a Linux Machine
I currently host 5 Linux servers at a provider, but the provider built them for me and added a nice account menu via telnet that I use to manage accounts.
I need to learn how to build my own Linux server, step by step.
Is there any good links or books that hold your hand through the whole process? Currently the Linux servers I manage only through telnet. I would like to build a Linux box that also has a desktop that I could access using vnc or pc anywhere.
Also, they say Linux is free? Are they referring to Redhat Linux and where can I download it from? Is there only one version of Linux? I just want to make sure I build a box that has all the patches and features and everything is up to date.
