bugmall problems

I have a client who has been trying to install bugmall (shopping cart)

This program is a PHP based program which uses Zend and Optimizer.

Here's the problem, I have installed the proper libs for Zend and Opt. but when the client tries to goto his index all the text I'm guessing is in ASCII or some odd jibberish.

Does anyone have experience with this and care to lend some suggestions or comments?
