What would you do ?
You know the administration task that you need to perform on your server. One of most important things to do is to BACKUP data, right ?!
I wanted to ask you how would you deal with the situation when you are really need the backups.
Lets say something really naughty had happened and your server went down. You have all your backups on another disk on the same server
or you have transferred it to another host on the internet.
You need to restore your server ?
How would you do that, if you don't have a physical access to it ?
Would you call your hosting support and tell them that they need to restore your data from a tape or boot your server from another disk or
host ? Tell them the steps they need to do in order to restore your server ?
Did anyone run into such a situation ever ?
What I think to my self is no matter what type of backup methodology I would take , it won't be easy to restore the data in case of failure,
because you always have to talk to the support on the other side and ask them nicely to do 1,2,3 and etc...
