Nameserver Reponses

Hiya. I have a box that currently has authority over 5 domains. Now, this single box has two IPs bound to it that act as two nameservers. It is actually just the same nameserver. I know this is far from ideal but it is a low cost box that hosts some personal domains.

Anyway, my problem is that I am currently on holiday in south Texas. My connection is through RoadRunner. What happens is that sometimes RR's nameservers are unable to properly resolve some of my domains. Most of the time they can, some of the time they can't. It is as if my nameservers are not responding quickly enough for RR, so it tells me they don't exist. However, I have tested it through a dozen other connections (dns gateways, home connection, friend's connection, etc.) and they don't appear to have a problem.

Now my question is, are RR's nameserver just not waiting long enough for a response from my box's nameservers? Or are my nameservers probably just not responding quickly enough? In either case, is there anything I can do other than moving the secondary nameserver elsewhere? I am not a DNS expert so I might be missing something obvious.

Thanks.
