Question about ram

Since I changed from my Duron 1gz to a Celeron 1.7 (both with 512ram) I'm having some speed problems.

The problem it's mainly my two ikonboard foruns (for my portals). Now my question, if I upgrade my server ram to 1gb will I have a huge speed incresse ? Since ikonboard usses too much cpu.
