Audio Streaming HOW-TO ?
I have a project to work on and that is, Audio Streaming. Its kind of a personal project but I am working on it on a large scale. I need to hear from you people how to accomplish it. Let me introduce the project briefly first.
I am building up an online Music station which will mostly play Classical Music. There will be LIVE streams and also on demand streaming. Examples, winamp.com, mp3.com, musicindiaonline.com etc ..
There are a couple of options for streaming servers, RealSystem Server, Shoutcast, Icecast. Real server is really too much costly for this kind of project. I am focusing on shoutcast and icecast. I need to know which platform to use, which software to use and in which format to stream the audio.
I am currently burning all the music to the computer in WAV format. This can be easily converted into MP3 or real audio format later. I need to know about the pits and falls of streaming. If anyone of you currently doing, I would more likely to contact him personally if (s)he like to be.
