System locked in boot cycle

Hi,

i have a system that is continously booting. Somehow after a while it suddenly came back online. If i use "last" it shows this.

reboot system boot 2.4.7-10 Tue Dec 24 00:36 (07:42)
reboot system boot 2.4.7-10 Tue Dec 24 00:35 (07:43)
reboot system boot 2.4.7-10 Tue Dec 24 00:34 (07:44)
reboot system boot 2.4.7-10 Tue Dec 24 00:33 (07:45)
reboot system boot 2.4.7-10 Tue Dec 24 00:32 (07:46)

Also the messages log is full of this
Dec 24 00:43:06 satworld syslog: syslogd startup succeeded

Soon after i connected to the server it went again in a booting cycle, making it unavailable again.
Any ideas what might cause this?

Thanks
