I just moved a bunch of servers from one cabinet to another. All of my IPs and network info stayed the same. I powered everything on, made sure they could get out on the net and and then took off. Well, this morning I get a flood of emails from my mrtg server telling me it couldn't find my switch. After a little probing I discovered that the servers and the switch couldn't see each other. I was unable to ping any of the servers in that cabinet from another server in the same location. They can resolve the domain names just fine so they can see the datacenter's DNS servers. I've checked everything out making sure that all the servers and the switch are on the right IPs and netmask. It's so strange. When I do tracerouts based on the name of the box it'll resolve the name properly and then just hang. My one .NET box gives me a "unable to route" error. Everything else works. I can ping the boxes from home just fine and all of the services that they provide are working great. My switch is a Cisco 2912xl-en and all of the servers are running Red Hat linux except for one .NET machine. I've been over it a million times and haven't found anything that makes me think that the switch is to blame. None of the settings on it have changed at least none that I'm aware of. Does anyone out there have any idea what could cause this to happen?
