Strange Behaviour

Hi yer,

I'm trying to setup a server on a friends network. He has qwest service: 5 statics fed from a Cisco 675, no firewall, 4 port hub. He currently has 3 windoze machines up and running fine.

Here's the dillema. I just put together a 2u server I want to eventually co-locate somewhere. It's running Redhat 8.0, all the recent updates. It's been running from behind a firewall and NAT just fine for 2 weeks here at my house but as soon as I hook it up at his place it locks up when serving webpages, downloading, seemingly at random but only when some network activity is taking place.

The symptoms:
No activity on the WAN side and frantically flashing activity lights on the LAN side from the onboard nic, hub and on the router. The problem persists with different IP #'s and when it's the only thing running on the network.

I have never seen ANYTHING but hardware failure lock up a linux box before and I'm stumped. I want to blame the router config or maybe the hub but thought I'd ask some opinions before delving in.

Thanks for any comment on the situation,
Iggy
