Rebuilding Linux to mail-only
Hi,I am setting up a service where people can start their own mailing list/ezine. This will NOT be spam, just pure 100% opt-in mailing, so a fully legimitate service.
I want to buy/lease a server solely dedicated to sending the emails, so it won't interfear with the normal web traffic.
So the server will have as only task sending (lots of) mails. So for that purpose, would it be better to modify/rebuilding Linux for this mail-only purpose. Since normally, Linux also can act as ftp/web/etc server, but I don't need this functions. It only has to send mails.
Would it be smart (and will it actually be faster?) to modify Linux by deleting a few component that won't be used for the sending of mails? Or doesn't it matter for the speed, or is the whole Linux package needed for sending mails?
I am more commercial than technical, therefore I ask this question to you.
Thank you in advance,
Jacco
