Specs for server. Opinions please...
Hi,I'm putting together a machine and just wanted some opinions advice on my current setup.
I intend to run a webhosting business with it and just want to know if anyones sees any glaring red flags. Here's the spec.
2u box co-lo'd for $79 a month/ 50GB throughput / $2 per GB overage.
Abit AT7 onboard raid
3 60 gig IDE Western Digital drives; one primary, one mirror, one hot spare. The board has 6 channels, 4 for raid 2 regular. Each of the 60's is the only drive on the channel.
1 40GB Western Digital for incremental backups. Setup to mount, backup, unmount.
The box runs httpd, pop3, imap, ftp, MYsql.
Mail is on the primary drive on it's own 15GB partition. Available user space is 30GB
Setting pricing at:
$3.95 20MB 5 mail 1 GB throughput subdomain under my url
$8.95 50MB 10 mail 4GB throughput Their own domain
$12.95 100MB 25 mail 6GB throughput Their own domain 3 mailing lists 2 Mysql DB's
$19.95 250MB 50 mail 10GB throughput Their own domain 5 mailing lists 5 MYsql DB's
I think this pricing structure will scale well with my costs and support up to 250 clients before I need to install another server. My major concern is mail being on the same box.
What do you all think of this setup. Anything I'm not thinking of?
Thanks,
Iggy
