Swap partition size, & best partitioning scheme
Does the swap partition REALLY need to be 2x the physical ram? My server is as follows:Dual Athlon MP 2400+
2 GB ram
2x 18GB scsi
1x 60GB (7200rpm, 8mb cache) IDE
Do I really need to blow 4 gigs of one of those rather small scsi's for swap? The server my sites are on currently usually swaps about 25 megs (512mb in that box). I'd like to only set it at 1 GB swap partition, maybe 2 GB. I just can't see allocating 4 GIGS to a swap partition.
Also, on the same box I'm trying to decide on the best partitioning scheme.
I want to use 1 scsi hd for all the basic partitions, the os, mysql databases, etc. and I'm thinking of using the second disk for the /home partition (cpanel box). My logic is seperating the mysql and user files to different physical disks will increase performance.
The IDE disk is strictly for backup purposes.
