extending partition size by adding another hard disk

Hi,

I am just wondering, how to increase a partition size by adding another hard disk?

For example, the root partition / is say 50 GB. I need to add another hard disk to that partition so that to increase its space. Is that possible at all, and specially without having to remove the current data first? The system is redhat 7.2.
