Update PHP or keep it the same?

Well I have heard one opinion from another sysadmin that says that it might be better to stick with the current PHP version rather than an update as it might break some peoples scripts and that pisses people off.

I have 3 machines, one running php 4.3.1 and the other two are running older 4.2.2 and 4.2.3 respectively.

I was considering an upgrade to 4.3.1 for the other two boxes but these machines have many users on them (they are full) and I do not want to piss off a bunch of people all at once.

Thoughts? Should I just go for it or call it good?
