Whats the correct MX and DNS Setup?

Ok, here is an interesting question.

I have a domain AUF.CO.UK

All Mail for the domain is delivered to MAIL.AUF.CO.UK

All mail is sent from a single mail server WRMAIL001 (it is known as this internally)

now, when the mail server answers the telnet mail.auf.co.uk 25 it answers:

Hello WRMAIL001.AUF.CO.UK

I dont know if I should add the subdomain WRMAIL001 to the DNS for AUF.CO.UK or if it can be left out?

Will it impact any mail delivery or will it not?

I have had it like this for over a year and everything is fine, but im just wondering if it would be technically correct to put a DNS record for WRMAIL001.AUF.CO.UK ?

All Answers welcome.

Thanks in advance for any help.
