I have a box which I plan on upgrading the RAM in. Currently it has 512megabytes and I plan on upgrading to 4 Gigabytes. The swap space is currently set at around 1gig. My question is, is it safe to upgrade the RAM? will it affect anything? Won't the swap space be not utilized at all? Also will the linux kernel from redhat (rpm) use all the RAM? I have heard people having issues with large amounts of memory.
on a side note, if i add a 2nd cpu to this system and upgrade to the SMP kernel will this affect cpanel at all?
