redundancy with 1 server?
Hi everyone; I'm hosting about 50 band sites for a record label here in Canada. I just moved the sites to Servepath.com, because we were eating up a lot of space.I am handling DNS, but right now I only have a primary nameserver for each domain. Obviously, this is not good. What is the best way to handle DNS and email redundancy if you only have 1 server? I was thinking of a few options:
1) setup a second server at home (I have 3meg/sec cable, but no static IP; can I use a dynip type service?)
2) hire an outside secondary DNS service... but do I have to update them each time I add a domain?
This would only be for the 10 mins/month or so the server is down. Would the secondary DNS "hold" the mail so it won't bounce? (BTW: the http service is not "mission critical")
thanks for your advice!!!
