Getting sites on GOOGLE & Yahoo EcT

Hey all, for many couple of years now I have done scripting for my self and other peopel and have never completed a site of my own and finaly I am getting towards it : www.phpdude.co.uk

Therefore I have never ever got a site to work on yahoo search engine and Google, and oter search engines as I have never had to do it, I have used CPanel to submit my sites 3 weeks ago on saterday and haven't a clue why it is not coming up, has anyone got a full proof way to get my site viewable on such search engines?

If anyone could help me out, full proof my site onto search engines I would appreciate it
