conservative or new technology, what would you recommend?
Next week I have to setup a new webserver. In the last few months I didn't had the time to follow the development of all software packages that are needed to run a webserver. So I'm looking for information what is recommended to install on a new server that should be secure and stable but also ready for the future.
The conservative setup:
FreeBSD 4.8
Apache 1.3.27+PHP+mod_ssl
MySQL 3.23.56
Qmail 1.03 + Vpopmail 5.2.1
PureFTPd 1.0.14
djbdns
or the new technology setup:
FreeBSD 5.0
Apache 2.0.45+PHP+mod_ssl
MySQL 4.0.12
Qmail 1.03 + Vpopmail 5.3.x
PureFTPd 1.0.14
djbdns
I think the best would be a mix of conservative and new technology software packages but which of those new are secure and stable to run on a webserver?
Thanks for your input...
