Mysql all down

I am a newbie to server management. Technically I have someone who is much more knowledgable with it helping me out, but he is only available during the day.

I just got a rackshack server yesterday, and things had been working fine, I had a site up and was using the new server for mail. Suddenly my mail wasn't sending or receiving, so I checked the status of things in WHM and found that apache, webmail, and mysql were all down. I'm not expecting anyone to fix this for me, but could someone point me in some directions of things I can check?
