Subnetting?

This is somewhat off-topic but if anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it as I am definitely not a networking guru.

As part of my soon-to-be downsized job, I manage an SCO unix server for a local division of a big company which serves an accounting package via telnet to local users all located in one building. Our IPs there started 10.11.72.1 with subnet mask of 255.255.252.0. All servers and clients were in that range and things worked great. Subnetting?

Due to bankruptcy/reorganization, I have to move server and clients to a new location where they are consolidating some local operations. The IP range at that location starts at 10.11.212.1 with same subnet mask. Both sites connect to corporate WAN via fractional T1's.

Problem: telco doesn't have inbound phone lines ported to new site for old division yet so we can't move client service reps but they still want to move the server and everyone else. I need clients at the old location (10.11.72.x) to find the server at the new site (10.11.212.x). Testing this, I haven't been able to talk between locations across the WAN and I believe it is due to the subnetting. I know communcation is possible since our private IM server which resides at the old location currently connects just fine to PCs booted up at the new location.

Do I need to assign the server a new subnet mask, the clients a new subnet mask, or both? Will 255.0.0.0 work to let them talk? (Told you I was definitely not a networking guru.)

Thanks for any suggestions.
