Linking 2 servers to raise uptime
I have an idea in mind and would like to know from you if it would be possible.
My idea is that you link 2 servers to each other using a simple network cabel. You configure both servers to check every few seconds if the other one is still up. One is used active, the other is passive by the way. If the passive computer notices the active one is down, the passive one takes over and the active one (after it is fixed) becomes the passive one.
Difficulties would be to have the same data on both the servers, but I guess this could also be done through the cable. You do have to install two control panel, but both servers have the same IP and never run together so you won't be paying double fees.
Is this possible?
