DNS Problem? Newbie Question
My first post so please forgive if I am not in the right area for this post.
We are experiencing a problem with our servers and I do not know the proper questions to ask our host to resolve it.
We are virtual hosting with a company that gives us a partition and we have full access to the control with ENSIM. They are running the latest version of Ensim.
Here is the problem. We have our own name server, example ns.domainname.com plus on our server we also our main website 'domainname.com' .
We also have of course other domains both IP and Name based. The problem is that our main domain 'domainname.com' is not coming up for people. I get all kinds of calls from people that say I am on one of your sites and clicking a link to your 'domainname.com' site and it is not accessible. Sometimes I will tell them to click again and they will try and the strange thing is then maybe even 5 min later it works. The company moved our entire site to a different server and the problem cleared up for 2 months, now we are experiencing the same thing again. Of course they have checked everythign and cannot find a problem, no scripts running except awstats.
Needless to say our hits have dropped dramatically which proves there is a problem, it is just so intermitent that I cannot find the problem or recreate it.
So my question is, why would the server have trouble accessing our main domain that matches the nameserver? I am pretty new at this so I am not sure it if is a DNS server problem or Address record? I should add that our main domain has its own IP address.
Any comments or ideas welcome.
