Why several versions of formmail in cgi-sys?

In /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys I see several versions of formmail:

FormMail.cgi
formmail.cgi
FormMail-clone.cgi
FormMail.pl
formmail.pl

Why is there so many versions of it there? Would it be a good idea to delete these scripts? The one I would like to delete is Matts formmail - the one available through the link in CPanel.
Hoping for some input.
