blocking all high ports over 1024

i got notice 16 hours before that my current datacenter where my dedicated server is sitting is installing a firewall.

in the morning about 10 hours ago i read the mail - tried to connect to my server via ssh ( i run it on a high port) - network timeout - strange i thought

i restarted the server - still network timeout but everything else just worked fine - went to the site of the "datacenter" ( i wont post the companys name ) and there were also thrteats about ftp problems with passive ftp

there i read all ports over 1024 are blocked by their firewall can you belive it ?

next - i have 2 ip adress ranges on that server - 1 range was down - msgéd the tech guy via icq and he told me he will check it out

called them - left message - send 2 support tickets - did post on their forums - icqéd

that was 4,5 hours ago - 50% of my server is down - i am not able to login via ssh

does this suck or do you think thats normal?

greets
zye
