up2date questions

hey im running redhat 8.

i updated all the the gcc, libgc, and god knows how many other things manually.

think is, it takes so long to keep all the system up2date this way.

the only things i want to worry about compiling all the time is apache, mysql, bind, php & other servers.

so what i want to know are these things:

is there an up2date system for suse linux??? if so is it free?
is there an up2data system for slackware??? if so is it free?

what port does up2data use for the registration of a system and also for the update of packages on redhat (so i can open the ports on my system as i run a secure firewall).

also, how do you get up2date to update all the rpm packages on your system?? is there an option that just gets up2date to update all the packages instead of updating packages one by one

and one last thing, with redhat up2date, how do you get up2date to display a full list of updates via the command line??

thanx allot

Matt
