RAQ4, PHP 4.3.0, GD 2 and JPEG Support

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix a RAQ4 that has problems with JPEG support in GD2? My host decided to recompile Apache + PHP and now JPEG support isn't working. They have been trying (so they say) for nearly a month now!
