Setting Up Colocation Server - Advisable or Not. Please Help

Hi,

I am REALLY undecided at the minute as to whether I go with a dedictaed server or have a go at my own colo server! Mainly due to the technical side of things.

I am itching to go down the colo side, mainly because of the costs of using a dedicated server.

Experience in IT:

NT4 Server and workstation course
TCP/IP Win 2K and NT4
NT4 Optimisation and Troubleshooting

However did these about 2 years ago, and not used them much since, look after 2 NT4 servers at work now and local network.

Used to normal NT4 admin duties setting users, permissions, shares, backup, IIS4, look after Intranet at work, http referres. Set-up PC's on network, IP, Network printers, usual ping, tracert, host, lmhost, MySQL, MS Access, Little VB, PC support etc.

Not done anything much with DNS!!!.

Do I have a good grounding for colo or do I stick with dedicated.

This is driving me mad, I am afraid that if I go colo it may be above my head. however I am reluctant to pay for dedicated.

Any thoughts please.

Daz...
