Techincal Questions for Game o_O

Hope this isn't off topic but it seemed the best place to put it.

Someone recenelty gave me Final Fantasy 9 on CD (5-6 CDS altogether). But I can't find a *.exe file anywhere! The largest file on the CD seems to be a *.img file.

Woudl this happen to be a CD image file and if so, how could I open it, let alone play the fricken game o_O

I know you guys are laffing at me haha.
