DNS Issues

I've been troubleshooting this for months now, but it's gotten to the point where I can't stand it anymore.

Perhaps somebody here has had a similar problem.

I am running my own web hosting business. For the past few months, I have been experiencing problems with DNS randomly failing. Suddenly, nothing on my server will resolve, sometimes for close to 24 hours straight, then magically start working again.

It only seemed to effect me and others on my cable node, but I've recently gotten a report from a client that it happens to his friend to, who uses a different ISP. When it happens to me, the rest of the world can access the server just fine.

I've tried switching from BIND to MaraDNS, but it makes no difference.

When I use the host (successor to nslookup) command to specify my server's ip address as the name server (i.e. host explorer.unrealhost.net 216.219.239.139), it obtains the right IP address. But when I let it default to my ISP's nameservers, it fails. It comes about after NO CHANGES to the zone files at all.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. If more information is needed, let me know.
