I want to set up a VPS server and I'm not sure where to begin.

Hi all,

One piece of technology that has always interested me is a VPS solution. For instance, I'd like to buy a P4/2.4GHz server with a couple GB of RAM and split it off between 4-5 clients. Each client would have "root" access to their own partition. Preferably, I'd like to be able to have the clients install any version of Linux on the server (one could use RH, and another could use Debian, for instance), but that doesn't have to be necessary.

I understand that User Mode Linux (UML) does this, but from what I understand, it's not ready for prime time.

What do you suggest? What do other companies that offer VPS solutions use on the backend?

Thanks!
