FTP headache

Perhaps my ignorance is showing but I am having problems ftp my site effectivly. I am using FTP voyager to upload a site, with no problems but if I later amend a file, I upload the update either writing over or first deleting the original, apparently without problem, unyet the browser still shows the old file.
After deleting the remote file, the ftp client showing it gone, the browser still shows it to be in place!
Any ideas I am one seriously frstrated new B!FTP headache
