I upgraded to the latest version of MySQL on my Ensim basic box, and ran into a few problems, as the mysql.sock seemed to dissapear. I ran safe_mysqld and that seemed to fix it.
However, this morning the mysql.sock was gone again, and I had to run safe_mysqld. I'm not sure what is deleting it, but if this continues, I will have to run safe_mysqld manually constantly...
