how do i find out what is the bottleneck in my system?

is there any software packages that can help you test network bottlenecks?

something is slowing down my (admittedly small) webhosting network.

this thing is way way bootstrap, i build on it as necessary, but im not sure what the problem is right now.

im on a connection that provides 768k of upstream via a cisco UBR bridge over a coaxial cable connection. the system demand is around 30 gig for the month, so i dont think the connection is taxed yet.

next i run it through a netgear 4 port router, admittedly a very lightweight router that has served me well, but perhaps it is being over taxed? i dunno!

the web/email/FTP/MySQL/CPanel are all on a xeon dual processor 450mhz with 512 meg of ram, and a 30 gig IDE 7200 RPM drive. it is running off a gateway motherboard, i think the xeons are 512 cache CPUs.

now, im running maybe 30-40 domains demanding 30 gigs a month, so i dont think its the CPU, i dont think the connection is used up YET, i dont think the network hubs/switches are over taxed.

what im wondering is if it might have to do with the IDE hard drive having trouble accessing information, poor caching setup on the part of my server and I, poor management by the router which was never meant for this task...or something else i havent considered?

i need input, and i know this stuff isnt the best equipment, in fact im embarassed to admit that this is what i rely on.
