Setting up a Mail Server
Hey,I have had a web server setup on my computer for sometime now. I always access it by typing in the IP# in the browser. I have registered a domain name and I have a website hosted with some people that hardly ever answers emails. Sometimes the server goes down for long periods of time with out an explaination.
I would like to move the website to my own server on my computer. Theres really no need for speed on the site. Its just stuff that I use. I have a cable connection, that should be fast enough for what I need it for.
I'm not real sure about making the DNS entries or MX records.
I have a simple mail server called MailTraq that should do what I need it to.
Is there anyone willing to help me out to get things going?
I have the webserver (apache) installed and working with ip#.
The domain name is registered, but is currently pointing to another hosting server. I have the mail server setup to connect to the other server's pop3 mail and get all messages and route stuff through the other server.
I would appreciate all the help I could get.
If you would, PM me or email jon_howerton@hotmail.com.
I have a windows XP system.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
-Jon
