Linux Kernel upgrading
Hey all..I have a question that's been lingering on my mind...
Is it imperative to install new kernel upgrades as Redhat releases them (if you already have a recent version)?
Redhat seems to be pumping out new kernel updates every few weeks, which is great... But I'm having some difficulty following all the Changelogs.. I was wondering, in general, are there serious security concerns between versions? Is there a trend on version #'s?? Do they jump to 2.4.21 when it's really important?
I just upgraded to 2.4.20-19.7 last week but now 20.7 is out.
I don't mind doing it if it's really necessary... My philosophy is that if it's not broke, don't fix it
It would cost me some downtime, and also some anxiety.. But I also don't want to leave open vulnerabilities around... Anyone have any tips for scanning over change logs for key information? Thanks.
