two servers, mirrored data, different locations

Hi there. We were hacked at the weekend. Luckily the people who hacked us only defaced some pages, but it could have been much much worse for us two servers, mirrored data, different locations It was certainly a wake-up call. We are dealing with the whole "security" side of stuff on the server and trying to be more proactive now. however, that's not the question..... because of what happened, we would be interested in looking at the following:

1. Having one server at our current provider (the current server)
2. Having a second server at another provider (ie Rackshack, Dedicated now or any of the lower cost providers)
3. Mirroring some sites from one machine to the other - including all files and databases. The files will probably change very rarely, but the databases will change a lot.
4. Now to the tricky part: If a server goes down or a network goes down I would like to look at how the traffic can automatically be routed to the other server

We are (like many people) on a budget here two servers, mirrored data, different locations so would appreciate any thoughts on the above. Hoping that I can speak directly with someone who has done exactly this as that would really really help.

Thanks in advance guys - appreciate it two servers, mirrored data, different locations

Ade
