Best way to learn how to run my own server...?
I've been a Software Developer for a number of years (Linux only) and would like to teach myself how to run a server.
I'd like to install Red Hat at home, connect it up to my DSL connection (dynamic IP), and install everything and get everything up and running (apache, cPanel, a firewall, anti-hacker tools etc.)
I'm then going to use another PC I have (connected up to the same DSL connection) to try to connect to it, hack it etc.
Am I going about this in the wrong way? Is there a better way to learn? Any advice appreciated.
PS I'm a good programmer, but have very little admin skills.
