Chaning nameserver IP

I'd like to check I have this right.

To change the main nameserver IP I'd change the DNS record for the hostname to the new IP and change the IP for the nameserver with registrar (i.e. the glue).

For example I have a nameserver cz.fxsonet.com right now which points to 209.123.13.137, if I edit the DNS record for fxsonet.com and point cz.fxsonet.com. to the new IP and then edit the nameserver glue at 000domains.com for cz.fxsonet.com. to the new IP too then it should be fine?. Of course I'd keep the nameserver on 209.123.13.137 running for several days to allow the any DNS caching of the hostname cz.fxsonet.com to expire.

That sounds right to me, no changes to any client nameserver settings are needed, however some registrars ask for the nameserver hostname and nameserver IP, do these clients need to then change the IP or do *some* registars ask for this for no reason?
