network setup
i just recently rent some rack space and 32 ips from colocation provider for my seven servers. i have never done this before because i used to rent servers. there's a network cable drop in the cabinet for me...
would any experts please address some of my beginner questions, any response is appreciated..
1) do i use the 32 ips provided to setup my own network and subnet, gateway?
2) or, do i just simply input these ips into the windows servers and run. if this is the case then what is the gateway?
3) Do I neet a router?
4) if i was to install the firewall in the cabinet then how should i setup the network so that the firewall will protect all my servers within those assigned IPs?
5) If not hardware firewall, should i use software firewall on my servers? If yes, what are some?
do you know of any site that might give me information on how to do these things? any books?
