Diff servers & Spam: is this something or nothing?
Kind of a newbie headscratcher question here that I've not really thought through in-depth, but today I'll ask about it anyway.
Designer here (that is, a graphics guy, not a programer guy) who adds reseller accounts from time to time. What I've come to notice is that with some providers I immediately get deluged with spam while with others, I don't. Sometime its not enough to move; just enough to notice.
It is not domain name dependant, perse. I always do as much as I can to secure my client account setups. However, from time to time I get a provider that any or all domains I setup (and therefore, all of my clients) I immediately get spam - from day one when the domain name resolves. There are several there immediately waiting to every domain I setup. (not spam from my provider, just run of the mill spam)
Any comments on any patterns discerned here? What does it mean? Nothing or something? is there a question I neglect to ask prior to choosing a provider?
