correct dns setup
Hi there, I'm trying to configure the DNS records for a new domain & i've come across a couple of problems..These are the records I have (the exisiting domain - domain1.net - and the new domain - newdomain.com):
domain1.net FORWARD XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
www . domain1.net FORWARD XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
mail . domain1.net FORWARD XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
www . domain1.net Mail Highest mail.domain1.net
domain1.net Mail Highest mail.domain1.net
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/255.255.255.0 REVERSE www . domain1.net
www . newdomain.com FORWARD XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
mail . newdomain.com FORWARD XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
www . newdomain.com Mail Highest mail.newdomain.com
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/255.255.255.0 REVERSE www . newdomain.com
The first domain records (domain1.com) I inherited & they work, so I've tried set up the new domain (newdomain.com) exactly the same, although i'm having little joy. I have two problems:
1. I can check for mail on newdomain.com, but not send mail to it - so hence i never recieve anything!

2. I can't add an A record for newdomain.com forwarding to my IP address - it always says there is an identical record already - well i can't see one on the list! This is a RAQ500 btw, incase that helps!
I was thinking if i could just add that host-less A record then maybe that would solve my woes... can any kind soul offer some advice or tell me where i'm going wrong?
thanks!
