CPanel, easyapache & PHP Modules

I noticed that easyapache via cpanel doesn't allow certain PHP modules to be installed. So I went to the directory where the php 4.3.3 source is and compiled and installed myself. Everything seems to be working but I had a couple of questions:

1. Is this OK to do, I mean, will this break cpanel?

2. I tried to remove certain modules (pear etc) from PHP but they were listed anyway. Is cpanel adding them automatically?

3. Will there be problems when cpanel upgrades apache in the future?
