Question about BUS speed and performance
A little out of my league here but doesn't the BUS size dictate the performance of the system? For example, if I have a 3.5Ghz P4 CPU and my BUS is 233Mhz isn't my performance limited to the throughput of the BUS since I/O needs to go through it?
If this is the case then the BUS would be the bottleneck and it wouldn't matter if you had a 10Ghz CPU with 5Gigs of RAM.
So you would need a system/mother board with a BUS that could handle the CPU and then some.
Do multi-CPU system boards have multiple BUS's so the data is multiplexed over all the BUS's?
